Trying to get engine data to Rsymarine Axiom MFD. I can connect to Yamaha OB NMEA plug with a cable that outputs to a NMEA male connector. There is a NMEA to Seatalk NG cable that could plug into an extension of my Seatalk NG network. Seems like that would work but Raymarine puts an ECI-100 connector ( cost about $400) in their network along with a proprietary Yamaha NMEA plug which connects to ECI-100. Anyone know what the ECI-100 does for you?

Seatalk is a proprietary communications protocol. NMEA 2000 is the industry standard.

Message contents and PNG can be/are different. The ECI-100 acts as a translator between the two.

Being a Raymarine MFD, one would assume Seatalk has more data available, but can only be confirmed by checking/comparing the PNGs available for your unit from each protocal
