I am planning on buying a new 2601 Seaswirl walk around cuddy. If I had the coin I would be buying a Whaler but the Seaswirl looks like a great boat for the money.
Any thoughts or experience out there with this boat or others in a similar class for ocean running?

Re: Seaswirl versus others

My choice was between a Seaswirl and A Pursuit, the only thing that changed my mind was that I didn't like the foot room going forward to the bow, and I got a great trade in for my Seaox.I think Whalers are overpriced, they are a "great boat" but you also pay for thr lable. If wasn't for the price I'd have gotten one.

You made some of the same observations. The foot room is small but it gives more room in the cuddy. I love the whaler but not the premium. Do you know how the Seaswirl rides in the ocean?

jimbo250

I realize the cabin space is a little larger,I guess it depends on whether you plan to sleep on board. I use mine strickly for fishing day trips. Before I had a c/c and didn't like taking all the gear off every time I docked the boat, and my wife wanted a little privacy!

Jimbo, did you ever pull the trigger on that seaswirl? I am planning to buy one myself. My only concern is what to power it with (250 yamaha or twin 150's) any thought ?

JIMBO-
Nice boat. Was looking at the 23 and 26 WA as well as the 26 Sport CAbin. Demoed the 23 WA and the 26 Sport with a volvo/penta I/O. The boats rode real nice, the day was breezy with a 2-3 tight chop. Handled well, and got on plane real nice. The 26 had a lower top end, but you could keep it cranking with the cabin and not worry about getting wet or a broken back. The walk is tight going forward (23 WA), but I have definitely seen even less room on other boats. My buddy has the 21 Striper CC with a 200 Ficht and she screams! Use the trim tabs properly and she takes the heavier seas real nice! Features and fit are above average. Has a lot of standard features as well.

Clop 321- unless you're going way offshore, and want the second engine for "peace of mind" I would say a 250 Yamaha OX66 should do nice for you. The 23 I tested had the 200 HPDI and we got it to 44 mph on a GPS. Keep in mind that a pair of motors has inherent handicaps such as additional weight and drag which doesn't really get offset by the fact that there are 2 powerplants.

Good luck with whatever you guys decide on!
