My boat has the omc cobra 5.0.when I give it throttle it gets to a point then it starts dieing have to either throttle down or it dies what could it be? Any help would be appreciated this is my first boat

Thank you I was thinking the same thing, could it have any thing to do with the throttle shift cable?

Ya start yer diagnosis with the most likely, easier things to check,.....
If you don't find joy, you move on to other possibilities,.....

There is a shift over ride switch which opens the circuit to the shift interrupt switch. If it does not work then the interrupt module could be staying engaged.

I'm a start with the more basic things cause I'm totally lost with switches and modules

Could it be I ran 91 0ctane in it maybe it was to rich boat motors are that sensitive?

Can you get a code reader for these engines and where is the plug in located

sometimes the rubber cover on those little switches wears and they can stick on.
