I have checked on here, Google and yahoo groups, and can not figure out what the name, series or model of my 1985 Starcraft is? The transom has the model number of STRN3608F85.

Thanks!!

No pictures?

Tracing serial #'s back to model has been asked here before, to no avail. I don't think the resource is out there. However, your best bet is to measure the length of your boat, and find someone w/ a similar setup as yours. Chances are, they're the same model.

I've heard Starcraft corporate is very supportive of its boat owners. They may be able to help you if you ask the right person.

Aluminum hull... is it 16 or 18 feet in length? The Mariner was a center console, SuperSport had dual consoles.

I don't know of a model w/ just a side console (but that doesn't mean they didn't make one). I'll keep looking around. There are a few Yahoo owner's groups, too.

I did a quick check there also, didn't see anything that caught my eye that looked like your setup.

It is a 16'. Thanks for looking around for me. I appreciate It! I have also had no luck finding a similar one? Maybe it was redone @ one time.

I found this place: http://www.boathistoryreport.com/index.cfm?HIN=STRN3608F85&error=1&yearsToCheck=0

But it doesn't like your HIN - it wants a 12th number. With cars at least, it'll give you the year/model w/o paying anything.

It looks like a "Fishmaster" model to me. http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1981-STARCRAFT-FISHMASTER-160VEE-92230065 or http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1981-STARCRAFT-FISHMASTER-160VEE-92230065

Another thing is that the different models (even w/ the same size hull) were rated for different engines. If you still have the rating plate, check it vs. what iboats has on record: http://www.iboats.com/Starcraft_Boats__1985/bp/34br1466s0y for the models they list for 1985. Some more models:http://www.iboats.com/Starcraft_Boats__1985/bp/34br1466s0y

Just to throw another kink in the loop, Fishmaster isn't listed as a model for 1985. Check boat classifieds, and craigslist too in the future, one might pop up. Maybe double check that HIN to see if it was missing a #. That's about all I can think of. Good luck.

Re: Searched High and Low. Boat Model info?

Ok, so the more I thought about it, I knew the coast guard rating info had to be somewhere, and I thought maybe it was under the floor in the front, assuming that the live well was aftermarket. I was not going to tear the front out and re-do it, but after seeing your restore, you got me pumped to not half-*** this job.

Anyways, low and behold I found it. CHECK LINK FROM PRIOR POST.

So it must be a "87", or "86" or "89"?????. So the VIN is not matching?

1987 Starcraft Boats FM160
This Starcraft outboard utility has a aluminum hull, is 16.08 feet long and 76 inches wide at the widest point. The boat weighs approximately 640 pounds with an empty fuel tank and without any gear or passengers. The maximum horsepower we have listed for this outboard boat is 90 hp . If repowering you will want to verify the max horsepower for safety and to make sure your insurance company will insure your boat. New engines are expensive so having the manual for your engine is a great investment.

Despite the aluminum hull on this utility, we recommend that the boat be kept dry and covered in order to preserve the value of the boat. Proper care and regular maintenance can help your craft stay nice and increase resale value. We have included some outboard engine information since a boat isn't much good without a good, reliable source of power.

Information on this page is provided to you as a free service of iboats.com. Because this information has come from many sources we can not guarantee its accuracy. Even if this information is the same as the original factory specs, boats are sometimes modified. Thus, for safety and other reasons, it is a good idea to verify information here to make sure it matches up with your boat. For additional information, we recommend the iboats forums and a boating safety course.

Re: Searched High and Low. Boat Model info?

I would think iboat's database is wrong, before the HIN would be wrong. They just list that stuff 1) as a courtesy and to add value to their site, and 2) to have you input your motor info (below it) and sell you manuals and parts for your engine. I wouldn't give it too much credibility, but it did match the ratings on my boat for my model.
