Hi, I just purchased a 1975 SeaRay 24' weekender, hull only, with the idea of restoring it. Boat originally had a 260 Mercruiser. I was debating if trying to find same motor/outdrive, bigger motor/outdrive or convert it to outboard using one of these transom brackets. Any suggestions or hints regarding this idea ?

Thanks.

Val

http://www.dadmarine.com/index00.htm

Check this site out for your bracket. They were kind enough to link their competition, Gil, Armstrong and Stainless.

I am considering doing the same thing with my cutout transom, mounting a bracket for the outboard and then glassing in the transom. But I am afraid that I will screw up what is a very good riding boat now, and there is no way to test it other than just do it. I know there are calculations for that purpose, but I don't trust them.

I will be interested to hear what comes up from this post.
