Hello,
I have a 2001 Seadoo Speedster with the 240 hp EFI Mercury sport jet engine. So far I have owned it for about 2 months and it has been running for about 5 hours. Every week since I have owned it I have to take it back to the dealership cause the engine fails. Seadoo blames the engine maker, mercury blames seadoo. Either way I blame both.

The problem appears to be a faulty fuel system. Some how bits of material are making it into the injectors and clocgging the fuel system. Seadoo claims there are bits of paint from teh engine, Mercury claims they are bits of plastic from the gas tank. Either way I just paid money for a boat that NEVER runs.

If anyone knows of anyone with similar problems with a 2001 Seadoo or has had problems themselves, please email me at mornet@alum.rpi.edu

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. I wish there was a lemon law for boats!

ToddM

Re: Seadoo Speedster Engine Failure!

If it is under warranty, they must fix the prob, reguardless of who is at fault. If it is chips of paint from motor, dealership has to clean that up. Same with gas tank. They must fix root problem, and you are keeping all the reciepts right? Talk to a lawyer, it may fall into some other type of law violation.
Good Luck
