"scuffed" piston

Looking at a boat for sale that has a '96 200HP Johnson Ocean Runner that has a "scuffed" piston. Seller says he had a compression test done and it was fine. What approx work/cost would I be looking at to have the motor fixed or possibly power head replaced if possible.

Thanks for all the help, have no experience with outboard motors.

If the piston is scuffed you're looking at boring that cylinder (at least) and a rebuild. Not a huge deal, an easy job.

But, rather than take his word I'd sure check into it and make sure that's all it is. Or check on powerhead prices right here at iboats and buy the motor accordingly.
