I have a Sea Ray 185 with a fiberglass floor, I took out a few panels to work on the engine. Some of the panels have brackets that are screwed into the floor. Doesn’t appear the factory used sealant on the screws. Would it be wise to put some sealant on the screws upon reassembly? I have seen numerous recommendations - 3M 4000, 4200, Loctite Marine Sealant, Starbrite Marine Silicone. Any recommendations?

3M 4000 would be my choice; it is UV resistant and not impossible to remove.

My boat is off white. Called my builder (Grady White) to see what they use at the factory. They use/recommend GE Silicon II, Kitchen and Bath in almond color.

That was 10 years ago. Still going strong and looking good

I use lifeseal, or the 4000. Which ever I have on hand. Also I chamfer every hole, it helps so the gel oat don’t crack, and helps seal the screw better.
