8-27-03

We had a bimini top installed by a dealer when we purchased a 1998 Sea Ray. We love the bimini top
but when the top was not in use the aluminum poles were scratching the aluminum sides of my boat windshield. The windshield itself is fine.
I think the dealer should have used side mounts
instead of flush mountings so the poles would not have rubbed on the frames. Since then I have
replaced the rear straps with permanent aluminum
support poles but I still have the scratches. Any
suggestions short of replacing the frame?

Re: Scratch marks on aluminum window frame

I take it that your top folds forward and rests on the windshield. I had mine installed with sliding brackets on the gunnel. When I put it down it slides all the way to the back & out of the way.
