Re: Scan tool for Mercruiser

You need a scan tool, but not the computer software and a laptop. The Mercruiser scan tool from Rinda is about the best for the price you can get. Takes a little longer to use than the computer software, but the learning curve and price is a lot less.

Don. I have this Rhinda tool. I am very familiar with using it. I just bought a 2007 Sea Ray with a 350MPI Magnum. Where is the ALDL plug? I quickly looked for it with no luck!
Thanks.Scott

It's either near the ECM or the thermostat housing.
It will have a plastic cap over the DLC connector

I have a 2007 350 Mag in a Sea Ray 24' Sundeck. I cannot find the aldl connector. Very embarrassing because I'm an auto technician, have the Rinda tool, but I can't find the dang thing! Any advice is appreciated. I read where it should be around the oil filter but it's not there.

Look for a metripack connector. Doesn't look like any ALDL you would be familiar with as an auto mechanic

In fact, other than righty-tighty, left-loosy and SSBB and base engine hardware, there is very little commonality between your auto mechanic background and boats.
