So wife and I are coming in, and a storm front is rolling up. I can see a pretty large cabin cruiser on a trailer sideways, with water POURING out of where the outdrive meets the transom. They had an older F150, 2wd, that was smoking the hell out of his right rear tire. Boat was inching back toward the water, as I'm sure many of you guys have seem. The most disturbing part was that after getting towed out by a tractor, they let some of the water drain, and even though they had 5-7000 lbs. setting ****-eyed on the trailer, they proceeded to leave the marina. And, this picture is about 10 minutes later, water STILL pouring out. Needless to say, we waited for about 10 minutes before we left, and prayed for the oncoming traffic.

Looks like they lost the lower leg out on the water?

Might have, but the boat was mildewed and molded. It looked like it hadnt been used in years. Funny thing is there was another similar one right beside it, and they were together. the other guy had a much bigger tow vehicle. It was so strange, like they had 2 boats and just wanted to see if there would be a miracle........ (Like the boats would float, and one would drive with half of an outdrive.) I wanted to ask questions, but decided to mind my own business. They were so calm and collective about it. Man I would have laid an egg if that were me out there

POW! lmao. another friend of mine was at fox chain-0-lakes and seen some wardens offering asstistance to a sinking toon full of forigeners. they had backed the toon and trailer in and un hooked the ball. yep. they were on the lake with trailer strapped under them.

Could very well be. I just dont understand how they got the boat off the trailer, and back on lop-sided without the rest of the outdrive. Guess they decided to check the boat for leaks the "easy way". Probably should have made some new structure in the lake and sold that nice tandem axle trailer that it was......

Strangely, I have seen videos of people running their boats with the trailer still attached. Wonder why the foreigners unhooked the ball?

Re: Saw these idiots at the boat ramp today.......

To encounter a boat like that full of water is not all that rare, as the lower unit connections and bellows often fail--you have to sprint to the ramp or beach. You don't have time to get it on the trailer straight and often have to go too deep with the trailer. In the panic you use whatever vehicle is hooked up. I have seen the big ones come barrelling in from the ocean like that.

Now, that's not to say these guys may have contributed by not inspecting the boat first, relying on ancient bellows or even the missing leg. Maybe they knocked the leg off trying to jam it up the ramp/trailer; maybe they hit something. But anyone with a I/O could be next....What would you do?

Yup agreed. There was so much water in this friggin thing that it probably weighed an extra ton or two. They were happy just to get it on the trailer at all.

This is why I thought they were stupid...

After they finally got the boat up, let the boat drain, back the trailer back in for a second, re-trailer the boat, and pull it back out of the water. (Even if it is with the tractor that had to pull them out)
Also, if you are trying a boat out for your first time, that clearly has not been in the water for YEARS, and has been setting in the elements, invest in a portable bilge pump. So it's not that it was that rare of an occurrence, I just think these idiots endangered the roadways travelling like this. It is hard to see in the picture, but the trailer looked like it was going to flip over on every speed bump this guy hit leaving the marina.
