I have a 85HP Evinrude which is used every 4 or 5 months. The boat is not kept near my home. Should I run the gas out each time or make an effort to crank it every couple of months ? Are there other alternatives? Appreciate any and all inputs.

Re: Run fuel out or not

There's been a lot of discussion about running the engine dry or not. I don't do it.
There's a couple of options. One is use a fuel additive like Sta Bil or Quicksilver Fuel System Treatment And Stabilizer. Either one of these will do a pretty decent job of keeping the carbs from gumming up. Another option is everytime you walk by the boat, pump up the bulb. This keeps fuel in the carbs so they can't dry out and gum up. Or, do both.

c/6

Hooty
