Last weekend my wife and I were walking back up to the cottage from our dock when we saw my neighbor coming down the road with his Rinker in tow on his way to the boat launch. He stopped to say ?hello? and I noticed he was solo. So, being the neighborly guy that I am I asked if he would like for me to drive the truck/trailer back to his place for him. He said ?if you don?t mind? so I jumped in the truck. He backed the boat in the water and unhooked the strap up front. We pushed on the bow but she wasn?t in far enough to float. He jumped back in the truck, put in reverse and the truck backed up much farther than expected. I jumped in the water to try and grab the boat but to late. She started to float away. The owner jumped out of the truck and said his foot slipped off of the brake, he then quickly emptied his pockets and started in the water but came to a quick stop around waste high. The water is starting to get a little cold here in Michigan and it literally took his breath away. So he took a seat in the grass and waited until it floated back to shore. I couldn?t stop laughing!:D

Was his voice an octave or two higher when he came out of the water?

You know, I don't know if his voice was higher or not. I couldn't hear much over my laughter. If I had my phone with me I would have taken a shot of that one. Owner sitting on shore + boat floating around helplessly = priceless!

Whoopsie. Something similar happened to me this year. I beached my boat and walked up to use the restroom...when I came out of the restroom I saw my boat was no longer beached. I had to take a little swim but thankfully only my girlfriend realized what had happened.

Re: Run-a-way Rinker

that happened to me once-many years go-cept my boat ( LoneStar) took off accross the lake- luck someone retuning to the launch gave me a ride to get it- but it was 1/4 mile out- I would not have been able to swim fast enough to catch the boat.
