Re: Rubber Worms

12 inch worms... what are you fishen for, a buick? i'll send you one of my mother-in-laws home made meatloafs. it's just like rubber and you won't need a sinker. if that don't work you could try an old tractor tire. i've never even seen a 12 inch worm. the bass out there must have fangs. don't dangle your feet over the boat you might not get one back. i'd have to freeze them and shoot them out of a compound bow tail first at the fish. :D i could only tell ya to look up a plastic worm manufactuer on the net and see what they got... let me peruse cabela's a minute.......nope ,sorry my freind the only thing in here that they have big enough for what your hunten for is a muzzel loader. mabye some of the other guys might know something

My better half just walk out.Catching fish seems to make it go all away. This big stuff is doing the job. They are just inhailing it and run with it. i seen artical on using this big softbaits many moons ago.My partners laughed too, till they started seeing what i was pulling in.You do, look funny throwing out this big stuff.I figure bigger is better. Hey Buffalo...

Since Bass Pro and Cabellas probably won't have the length you're looking for you might want to do a Google net search for the Electrolux Web Page. I'm sure that their parts department has some superb vacuum cleaner hoses, and they may even come in different colors :D

Re: Rubber Worms

hey buffalo,
if thats whats catching them go for it. do you need to go bigger? what i mean is if your getting them on what you got... what are you fishing for? i've never tried to get plastic baits bigger than the ones at walmart. although i am kind of peeved that the w-mart here quit selling the 8in strait black/blue spade tail. seems that they won't sell anything but the squigaly worms now. no strait red and none of the chartruce with blood red middle eather. the later is a killer arround here. i am probly one of a very few top water worm fishers (frog on lotus style: trojan worm technique) deadly shoaFIn fishing monk style.i can catch a lot of big bass in the lilly pads by working the worm real slow from one pad to another and dangeling the first 3in or so with a twiching move over the side. spose you don't have any lilly pads out that way though. there are many shoaFIN masters on this fourm with good hydro gung fu. got a question just ask they've all made the journey.

derwood,im fishing for bass. This big sruff is crying your name out! i can see all the new doors this would open in the lilly pads. You should try a couple packs. basspro.motor/oil,black/char.and pumkin.Look for a 6/0 worm hook. You are abusuletly right, why fix something that is not broke.i will stick with what i been successful with.We have have been on a 3day cooling trend. So i thoughy i would snoop around and look for some bigger worms.3 hours of digging so far.Custom pouring softbaits is what i found so far. One guy only has molds for 12.5 in.Have emails out on 2 more.i think one of the big 2 might have softbait making kits.Might just do it myself.I will get back to you on that hydro gung fu. Re: Rubber Worms

I like the 12" worms at the right time of year. It is a good alternative to the everyone going smaller mindset these days. The only lead I ever had on bigger worms was a guy who hand makes worms that said he would make them for me for a price. I think larger worms and such have caught on in the west so check out some manafactures that deal with western anglers more than nation wide.

This is just too good! Between the buick, the meatloaf, and the hydro gung fu, I can't stop laughing. I would have to agree with Warhorse, go with the vaccum hose or maybe try some garden hose and cut your own length!

Re: Rubber Worms

well i could'nt write for long the other night but i got a minute now. well i can't say as i'd be able to buy a 12in rubber worm round here. the only critters roamen in the lotus bigger than 12in around here are cotton mouths and and gators ....neather are bass bait, but you never know. i once saw a big bass snatch a baby duck off the water near the pads. poor thing. i just sat there with my jaw bounceing off the dirt. swore to that mama duck that i would avenge her gosling and if i caught that bass i would eat him for sure. kinda made me mad even if it is nature. i am a shade tree kind of guy and all this talk of meat loafs and tractor tires and vaccume hoses is maken me look at my daughter's slinky toy in a hole new light....hmmmmmm :D

Re: Rubber Worms

buffalo i owe you an apology, i think. i really thought you had to be kidding. if you are catching the bass with worms that size then by all means continue poste haste.
i remember a decade or so ago, when lg plastic was the fad in S. GA, and of course i bought some. i think they were 10" made by Culprit, so have you run a search by them?
otherwise, i'd say - if you're looking to do better - maybe try the local pet shop for some cheap live snakes... or maybe some 1/8" plastic tubing (windshieldwashertype) with some upholstery paint and living rubber skirts... get superglue & epoxy & the new garlic aerosol cans, whatever it takes! heck, if they're all that big, just get batteries anna cowshocker and cover it with rhinoliner(tape off the tip of course!).
good luck man! goferit!!! be 1 with the bass zen :D

Re: Rubber Worms

How about carving a mold out of wood and finding one of those old "Creepy Crawlers" kits we had when we were kids? You could customize just about anything that way! Maybe even one of those critters from "Tremors"!

http://209.196.49.246/

Old toy site. Lots of fun.

Gentlemen, sittin' here drinkin' a Mickey's and laughing at Derwood's response to using 12 inch worms. I paused for a sec and realized that a 12 inch is a big one, but if that is what the fish are biting on, go for it!!!! I'd do the same thing. MB

Zoom makes a Magnum lizard pretty close to 12".
Works great in the fall, but using big stuff
like that in the summertime is something I
ain't ever heard of. You must of found a super
honey-hole for big mouth's or we're talking a different species. Anyhow, Zomm is where to look.

Re: Rubber Worms

This is a funny Post.
I have a valid solution if you really want the bigger worms. When my worms started getting beat up I would melt them to mend them. You can take two of your 12s and cut the head off one and mend it to another using a clean flame. I use a mini butane torch. Matches and lighters cause a black carbon burn.
Good luck - now you have 24 inch worms.
