Is this just a show or a “working” show?

We have Classic car week in Ocean City every October.
Grab a chair and watch them as they cruise Coastal highway Friday and Saturday night before the judging.

Who doesn’t love the smell of nitrous in the streets

primarily a Rockabilly line-up with pin-up girls and a car/bike show on the side. From what I gathered, its an extension of the Rockabillique shows in the Carolina (Rockabilly and BBQ). We just didnt get the good BBQ

the 2014 GMC in the parking lot about 6 blocks away....

however in the past i have owned the following:
3 opel GT's (from stock to not...)
2 1940 Chevrolet Deluxe's
1 1948 Chevrolet 3100 5-window
1 1953 Chevrolet 3600 3-window
1 1973 Pontiac Lemans
1 1971 Plymouth Road Runner
1 1968 Plymouth Satelite
1 1978 Dodge W150

Currently negotiating with the Admiral on a '32 Ford.

I'm fortunate that I have a family member who is retired and plays with cars. So, I've got a few to monkey with without having to own one. There's quite a bit of a stable that I get to play with ('64 Mustang, a couple Miatas, 1960 Edsel), and a few I haven't gotten my grubby mitts on yet ('49 Dodge, '63 Comet, '53 Ford).

Don't have your gift with the mechanical stuff though.

Yes....currently looking at a new 32 chassis, set up with a 4-link with new housing, new axles, used 9" 3rd member, new steering column, some front end parts, etc. for dirt cheap - someones project that simply got put on the back burner 15 years ago..

toying with either a repro body or try to find a 90 year old survivor body. Roadster or Sedan without the trunk

engine choices im toying with:
flathead ford with 3 strombergs and a T5 trans (traditional motor - about 250hp, however a big slug of iron)
Mercruiser platypus 470 with an aluminum head, dual webber DGVs and a T5 trans (about 225hp however light weight)
90's vintage Quad 4 with Borla (formerly TWM) induction and a T5 trans (about 240hp and high-reving light weight)
Cummins 4BT and a T56 trans (about 250hp, more torque than needed, however about 35mpg)

I got a listen to a flat 8 Ford not too long ago. The listen was more important than the look or the power for some reason. Just sounded cool. Kinda' got the bug to play with one.

Some great rides there Scott. Thanks. My fave is the red Porche Speedster, if it's a real Speedster. They make a glass body that you can slap on a VW chassis. A few of my favorites I have had over the years.

I see a pattern.

Nothing worth mentioning after those cars. Current ride is 2011 Chevy Silverado LS 4WD. My wife's 2015' Kia Optima, 250 some odd HP, ridiculous HP for a small, to me car with a little 4 banger. Before I know it I'm going 85 MPH.

Currently in the market for a late model Camaro Convertible with the V-8. My days of playing with carbs, points, plugs, plug wires, rotors and condensers are over. I can change oil and filter every 10,000 kilometers, that I can do.

Old Ironmaker cars with round headlights have soul.....everything else is simply transportation.

I can tell you I have spent more time replacing sensors on modern cars than I did fiddling with a carb once it was dialed in.

Went thru ECT, ICT, two O2 sensors two cam sensors and a crank sensor in 120k miles of driving the last daily....not to mention the normal plugs, wires, etc.

Quite the line up of vehicles ! I even spotted a Studebaker Avanti in the mix .. It was either a 64 or a replica ..
The square headlights gave it away .. My dad had a 63 Avanti ...

The Avanti was real, 40% of the '32 fords were real, the Speedster and the cobra were both replicas

That's the Avanti II. Studebaker made the Avanti until '63 (I think). In '65 the plant was revived by one of the old managers, and they produced the second version for a few years. Those models are a little different.

I'm a fan of the original ones. Wouldn't turn away the '65 or newer model, but it's not the same thing (truly).

You've replaced more in 120K miles than I've replaced in my last two daily drivers (340K +) combined. 1994 and 2008 Honda Civics
