Has anyone ever used a restrictor disc in place of a thermostat on an I/O? If so what diameter hole would you use for a 4 cylinder Ford. We used to use a disc with a hole in it to restrict the water flow in place of a thermostat on our small block Chev sportsman motors. I'm having dofficulty keeping t-stats from seizing in salt water and ythink this may be a reasonable alternative.

<br />But try some of the short track racing sites.<br />I'll bet they could get you in the "ballpark"<br />on the size you need.<br /><br /><br />------------------<br />Time to change my tagline

Meanwhile, I'll ask some of the mini-stock racers locally (saturday night).<br />I'm sure it's just a matter of maintaining proper flow and pressure. What a novel idea.<br />Those things are ALWAYS sticking..and in outboards too!<br />I'll bet if you got pressure and flow specs for all the marine engines out there, you could pattent and market THAT thought!
