I'm redoing a 15 ft.glastron ski boat to a flats/bass boat and would like some advice on using resin or epoxy on the hull bottom. Also has anyone ever used this Gluvit epoxy product? If so how did it work and can you use it with fiberglass matte instead of resin for the stringers, transom, floors and decks?

I've never used Gluv-It on fiberglass. I really do not think it was intended as a support medium for fiberglass mat as opposed to epoxy.

Re: resin or gluvit epoxy?

I used Gluvit on the bottom of a strip planked sailboat and it worked great...way back in 1972. It is really too thick to use for saturating cloth...unless you thin it. Regardless, it is an excellent product that lasts a long time and does exactly what the mfg says. The stuff has been out since the early 60s that I can remember.

For laminating use a thin epoxy resin. You can find it at Florida Fiberglass over in Rockledge. A 3 gal set is $99 or 7.5 gal for $199. It is 2:1 ratio. I'm using the stuff now on a stringer/floor project and it is good stuff.

Re: resin or gluvit epoxy?

BillP,Thanks for the info.So I can use it on the bottom of this boat and over the transome after its all glassed in? Did some reading on the gluvit and it can be pimented. This was a fresh water boat and has alot of blisters but they are sanding down nicely. If that stuff is good and thick it should do fine for the inside/outside shell.Appreciate the help. george
