How hard is it to replace a waterpump? I have never done it, but would love to know how. Good idea or leave it to the pros????

Re: Replacing waterpump

We do need to know what you are working on, model # and/or year and hp.
I haven't done mine yet, but with the help of others on here I managed to get my LU off yesterday so I can do it, so it's definately an easy thing, you just have to know what to do.

Knowing how to do anything on an outboard is learned in one of two ways 1) years of experience or 2) a service manual specific to your engine. In your case #2 would be a wise investment if #1 does not apply.

Re: Replacing waterpump

The service manual is definately something good to have, but although I may get yelled at for this, it is not mandatory. I don't have one for the 60hp I'm working on right now (I just ordered one, but don't have it yet), but I managed to get the LU off with a bit of help from others on here. I haven't opened up the water pump yet though since I don't have the new one, so I am sure a manual will be of much help when it comes to that.
