Howdy All,
New to the board. I am fixing up my parents old boat that they had since 1977. I has been sitting outside for the past ten years. The canvas cover has a big rip in it and is letting water in. I do not know how long it has been torn. Almost all of the wood is water damaged, swollen from the moisture or totally destoyed. My main concern is the flooring. If it is damaged and needs to be replaced what are some things to look for or worry about. If I replace it myself would I have to worry about the balance of the boat? I know most of the wiring will need replacing or atleast cleaning. My dad told me that the engine was winterized before it was put into storage. Thanks for reading and suggestions.

------------------
Jeremy
1975 Starcraft Capri Cruiser

Get the book "Runabout Renovation", by Jim Anderson. There's good info there about how to figure out what the boat needs, and about how to do the work. Flooring isn't too hard, but the transom can be a bear if it's rotted. Still, it's all doable if you have the time and energy.
