Replacing bellows on Mercruiser alpha 1 Gen 2

I'm trying to replace my Bellows before the weekend but I cannot get any Bellows adhesive for at least a week. Do you think that I could just use regular contact cement?

Yes or 3m makes weatherstrip adhesive there are a couple substitutes and if i recall correctly bellows adhesive is not a unique formulation .

use power tune to get the retaining ring to slide in on bellhousing end

I've used contact cement for 2 bellows changes without a problem.

Ayuh,..... Just don't follow the directions on the can, for gluin' down formica counter tops,....
Put it together, it before it dries,....
