Hello all,
If you read my previous thread, you may recall I couldn't get my Force 70 to turn over. I've had it looked at, and the diagnosis as has been described to me is that the switch box is bad. I was told this is the common culprit when there is no fire all 3 cylinders, but all grounds/connections/stator are fine. I was also told it was an easy job, and it looks easy = 3 screws and match up the wires - but then, I'm new to outboards. So, I thought i'd ask here for any tips, tricks, cautionary tales or advice you guys might offer on how to do the job right.
The bad box is inscribed as part number 18495A10. I understand this has been superseded by both 18495A12 and 18495A26. Can anyone verify this, or the specific part I should order?
Lastly, this is a $250-$320 part from what I've seen - so, can anyone recommend a way in which I can test it myself to confirm it is actually a bad box?
I look forward to any advice, etc you guys can share. Thanks in advance.
