So after fighting with this fuel system and repairing all of that I was running the motor spraying seafoam after letting it run a little while and burning the seafoam out of the motor I noticed that idle and when I give it fuel the carburetors are spitting fuel back according to the OMC manual this is bad read valves gaskets somebody on this form is saying that bad read valves will not expect wide open throttle and that is the only place I have problems the engine idles fine and runs great up to about 3500 RPM then after that is when it starts to surge up and down up and down and will not plan out 1987 225 HP Johnson. The trouble shooting starts with a compression test.----Post the actual values here.----Next is a spark check.----Do you have spark that jumps gap of at least 3/8" on all leads?----The surging points to a fuel supply issue.
