Quick shift cable install question

So I have replaced all the bellows, water hose, and water pump in lower unit. I have the bell housing back on and am ready to install the new shift cable. Do I simply slide the cable cover in through the bell housing, through the bellows and screw it in to the bell housing then slide the cable itself through the cover? Looks pretty straight forward to me just want to make sure I am not forgetting anything. Thanks for the help

Re: Quick shift cable install question

I just did pretty much what you have on my Alpha 1 but I fixed the cable outer in the bell housing, which was removed, first. Then, I slid the new shift bellows together with the clamp and clip all the way to the aft end of the cable.

Then fed the cable through the transom (with the open end protected from dirt) and made sure it was routed properly, secured the bell housing and then secured the U/J bellows and the shift bellows.

Then it was just a case of installing the inner together with the shift fork and connecting at the shift plate on the engine. Just following the manual, really.

So being that I already put the bell housing back on I should be ok just sliding the outer through the bell housing and bellows, right? Then the inner. Thanks again for the help
