Well work has continued on my Nineteen and I have some questions. My brown/gold hardtop over the years has faded and now is the unfortunate color of calamine lotion. Any luck with painting or covering with vinyl?
New bilge pump, blower, horn, stereo installed. Redid most of the wiring and put in a fuse box and replaced lights. Leaking throttle rod has led me to order rebuilt carb and am replacing fuel line from pump to carb. Then I will be ready for a ride or two before it's time for winter.
Future projects include aft curtain and windows and replacing carpets.
I have one seat that has a seam that is open-not split, just un-electro whatever. Any ideas on resealing?
I have not been in the water with my boat yet and wonder-aren't there a lot of openings in stern? With the blower vent and center vent holes at transom and vent holes on sundeck do people have any issues with leakage with a following sea?
All in all I have enjoyed my tinker time and love the classic look.

Re: Questions, concerns, update

don't know if this will help. but my hardtop was kinda faded too, maybe not as bad as yours sounds though. anyways, i've been using 303 on my hardtop. for the most part it has brought the color back.

i've no ideas on the seat. have ya talked with AristoCraft about what a proper repair might be? i've never seen any seat upholstery put together seamless like AristoCraft did it. hopefully ya can cure it. it must be a unique idea from AristoCraft. a very good idea at that. let us know what ya find too. i have one spot where the seam is split too. like yours though, not coming apart but i'll be interested in what the repair is.

as for the vents on the stern. no real problems with them. not to say that i've not had water intrusion from them while boating in heavier seas. the curved transom helps keep some of the seas from entering the holes, but ya get a bad swell and you'll take on some water. at least i do. that's when i use the bilge pump.

sounds like ya've made some real progress lamp. got any pics to go along with the words?
hope ya get her out before the snow flys.

note on the fuel line. hopefully you will be able to keep the hard fuel line (tubing) from the fuel pump to the carb. if not, use the A1 uscg approved fuel line.

I will take some pictures next chance I get.
I was able to find the original hard fuel line online so I can replace that. New carb will be in next Monday. Learned that fuel leaking around throttle rod is a regular problem with old Rochester 2 barrels, after many years they get too much play in them. You can get bearing kits but I decided to let the pros do it.
I will have to get some of that 303 and see how that works on the top.
Have not contacted AristoCraft about open seam but sounds like a good idea.
I am hoping to get out before snow but if all else fails I will be set for spring. Here in WNY, (Buffalo area), you are never sure when winter will come but we are sure it will :)
