I just bought a 1977 2 stroke 55 hp Evinrude with controls. The old boy said she runs like a rabbit, I said through her in the truck and I'll put water to her later and listed to this old rabbit run, didn't happen. Wife said I told you so.After 2 days on u tube I decided after replacing starter solenoid and repairing ground cable I had things going my way. That didn't happen either. Decided problem was in the key switch, opened controller , parts flew all over garage floor. Now I got real problems. Keep in mind this controller is probably org. EQPT. NO WAY would I ever get this back together and now my motor worked with the new key switch and a 6 wire harness. With key it started. Choke worked. Heaven here I come. Boys I need a controler for my cables. I'm including some pictures of my cables. Thanks. Yeah, wife said told you so. I love that woman

Not sure about other areas of the country, but here in southeast Georgia, every boat repair shop has dozens of boats that were dropped off for repairs and/or estimates and never picked up. So, they will occasionally turn some parts loose off of those boats. Look for those boat junkyards. There are millions of those old control boxes laying around somewhere.
