How is the weather going to affect the spawn this year? It has been 70 degrees one day and 30 the next. No rain yet, lake is about 8 feet low. This time last year the lake was 15 ft high, and the weather had begun the stabilize. Not the case at all this year. I am getting very worried about it. :(

Re: Question about the weather

I wouldn't worry about the spawn at all. Nature seems to take care of it most of the time. The fish will drop their eggs when the temp is right.

It may tend to bunch up the spawn of several species a bit, but what can you possibly do about it? The big predators are still going to spawn first, and will probably have eggs and fry to eat when they hatch.

Now if you are worried about being able to catch fish during or after the spawn, then you are going to have some trouble determining exactly when they are spawning.
