i have been redoing my boat and have gotten the top put back on, also have screwed on the metal rub-rail channel, now the problem is getting the rubber piece put back into the groves on the channel. removing it was no problem as i was able to pry it out without doing any damage. anyone got any ideas on reinstalling it easy?

If its old it is probably hard and non plyable. Warm it up in your house to room temp and then light oil on it should help. I have done several and had to replace a few. Taco sells it. Look on there web site for what you need . Sometime you need a rubber hammer to set it in place. Ed

file the corners of channel so you have easy in , spay with a lot of wd-40 or white lithium grease , then spray with water , grab rub rail with needle nose vice grips , pull , it helps if some one is pushing from beginning , & keeping it straight , not a lot of labor requitred

Re: question about rub-rail

Are you trying to pop it in with a flat head screwdriver or pushing it in starting at one end. I pushed mine in starting at one end and used lots of very soapy water. Had wife holding one end while I sprayed and did the pushing. Once started, it went pretty fast.
