I have seen several references to royal purple oil. My question is, years ago (60's0 there was a purple oil the brand was ROYAL TRITON MOTOR OIL and it was purple. A friend and pro mechanic would use nothing but this oil in his cars, Does anyone know if this is the same oil that is now refered to as ROYAL PURPLE. Must be but I'd like to be sure if anyone knows the history of this oil company. Thanks for any information about this oil. This friend is the only person that ever mentioned that oil to me, otherwise, never heard and reference to it. Also what is the name of the company that sells this oil now? I'd like to check it out.

Re: Question about PURPLE OIL

Nope not the same the Royal Triton purple oil was sold by the UNION 76 OIL COMPANY. Found it be searching guess it is no longer made as the old oil cans are sold on ebay to collectors. Oh well just wondering. The new purple oil is all synthetic from what I read and is another thing completely. :D
