Re: PTT Reservoir Access
There should be a knurled knob--oooh, alliteration-- on the side of the reservoir facing away from the engine. You unscrew the knob and add fluid through the hole with a fine tube until it runs out the hole. Replace the knob and cycle the tilt all the way to both extremes a couple of times. It is self bleeding. let sit a little to let air out of the oil and refill if necessary. The O ring seal is usually flattened so you might want to replace it. And don't screw the knob too tight or you will either strip the threads (if a plastic reservoir) or need a Vice-grip to get it off next time.
If you have the three wire motor, it will heat up and stop if you hold up for too long. The internal bimetal will cool and it will function again. If you hold down too long, the oil will aerate and foam.
With a two wire motor, holding too long at either extreme will aerate the fluid.
Replace with like fluid: Clear is hydraulic oil, red is transmission fluid, and tan is straight weight motor oil (I think 30 weight but I could be wrong.) Go to the Chrysler forum and RRitt will give a definite answer.
