Hi , I own a 31 o'day with a 2 cylinder 14 hp m-18 universal diesel engine that presently has a 16x9 two bladed prop. I am thinking about going to a three bladed prop and would like to know what size to use.
Any information on this subject would be appreciated.

Re: prop size wanted

You really need to know what RPM the motor is running at NOW as they need to be able to reach there full rated WOT RPM

What are you trying to achive  as it is a BIG boat and a tiny diesel :)

Re: prop size wanted

14 hp really isn't a small auxillary for a 31' plastic boat. I expect that, to a powerboater or somebody used to newer sailboats, that it might not sound like much, but my 32' wooden boat was designed with a 3hp motor. You could upgrade to a 6 if you wanted. Most modern sailboats don't like to go upwind so they have larger motors. If your sailboat won't go upwind, you don't need a different motor or prop, you need a different sailboat
