Hey,

I'm looking for a ballpark prop size to use on a 17' Tuffy fiberglass bass boat with a late 70's 115 inline 6 Mercury. No rpm info or prop size from existing set-up. My best guess is 13-1/4x17. I found a used stiletto in this size and I'm wondering if my friend should buy it for his boat.

Thanks!

Its a good start, and could very well be the right prop. Then you can experiment from there as finances allow.

I would think a 19"P would be a better all around choice, especially if you have power trim. I run a 21" P prop on my 16 foot speedboat with an inline 6 150HP Merc. A 17" p prop will give you more "Pop" off the line, just watch your WOT RPM.

Piet Visser

I agree with LubeDude. I have a 16' bassboat with a 1972 model 115 horse inline 6 and a 19 pitch prop. I'll bet your 17' boat is a bit heavier, and therefore the 17 pitch prop would work well.

Good Luck,

Gold Bear ;)
