Hello...now that we believe we have figured out our prop problem. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated since we are clueless.

We have a 1976 Aqua Patio 28ft pontoon with a 1976 70hp Johnson with a 14x13 prop.

Do we have to stay with a 13 pitch??

Thanks for any help!

Re: Prop recommendations

Without rpm figures there isn't any way to suggest a prop accurately.
It isn't good for the motor to run on a poorly selected prop.
tinytach has reasonable tachs to work on most any outboard.
My guess is you will need lower than a 13.You shouldn't change props without a tach.

Re: Prop recommendations

i just changed the prop on my force 70 from a 14 pitch to a 13pitch and it worked out nicely if you go for a lower pitch you get a faster acceliration but loss on top end also the engine revs higher with a lower pitch. dont under prop it either or itll go nowher and dont over prop it or you will strain the engine and gearbox wat sort of pitch are u thinking about?
