If the criteria are helping online Iboats members and being an valuable asset to this forum.....<br />Oh and the newer one of having over 1000 posts credited to you as well, then IMO either MOD1 or JB should advise admin5 that Ob should be considered for promotion to ADMIRAL. Good job OB and thanks for the help...I enjoy/learn from reading your posts and you deserve it.

This board dumped the peer rating system awhile back(good thing in my opinion). The current "rating" system appears to be on the "good ole boy" system using subjective merits to advance. The sheer # of posts means nothing. I would suggest that the powers to be, level the playing field by just using the person's handle. People who visit this board find out quickly who has reliable advice and who the "fluff" posters are.

Dmessy-<br />Are you mad you haven't been promotod to baby admiral or something? Everyone knows the ranks don't mean anything specific, but they make it fun for the new guys(making captain) and then also fun for the experienced guys(making admiral). Everyone likes being rewarded for things every once in a while. If you don't care about having a title under your name, then why are you worried about others having one??? Just ignore them. <br /><br />Also- I justified why I thought OB should be promoted in my post and its not just because he hit 1000. Unfortunately, the fellow who can change rank is very busy running his business so he may not have time to evaluate the board everyweek and update the ranks. That is why I posted for Jb/MOD/admin to at least evaluate this persons status. Why- b/c he helped me and I see him helping others every day. I was actually just being friendly and doing the same thing that was done for Crabbait,etc recently. I am in no "good ole boys" club and dont get the secret ballot emails you must be paranoid about...

You are absolutely correct, Beaux.<br /><br />OB has been one of the most helpful members, and over 1000 posts testify to his consistency.<br /><br />By whatever measure, he should be Admiral OB.<br /><br />Admin5 has been very busy, but has the promotion on his short list.

Dmessy<br />Most every one posting on this board has<br />some thing to contribute, some with their<br />mechanical knowledge, some with boating<br />expertise , others with fishing experience.<br />and best off all, some with bright stories.<br />People who visit this board do quickly find <br />both help ,humor & advice.

Hey fellers, I'm not slamming OB or anyone else. Everyone has thier own opinion and I enjoy reading them(most of the time). As far as I'm concerned, everyone is an Admiral. <br />Beaux...mad?upset? You gotta be kidding, I don't take myself that seriously...I just use this forum to have fun and mabey learn something about a sport I enjoy. Lighten up friend, it's just a suggestion

Dmessy-<br />I will admit, at first I (incorrectly)took your comment as a "shut up and sit down" type response to my suggestion for OB. But after thought, I realized that I was going to do the same thing that I was going to "respond" to if I responded mad/rude. That is why I attempted to make a rebuttal but actually tried to add a little sarcasm to lighten it up and not get intense along with the "code faces" at the end. I appreciate you not taking personal offense to what I wrote, as I wasnt really trying to attack you. I am not mad/upset, just wanted to commment. I enjoy a little idea jousting as long as it doesn't get to personal.

Thank you Beaux, no offense taken and I was wrong to even bring up the subject. Next time, I will pay more attention to those that share this forum with me and not type inflamatory opinions that would best be left unsaid. You are truly an Admiral!

Man...I just signed on and figured I'd begin at the warm your brain up "Nothing to do with boats forums"and check the status of the "Oh mister President" topic and see if I could begin my day with a new Yo mamma joke.I am truly humbled that I would be considered for promotion to Admiral with the likes of the expertise that I have witnessed since coming aboard.Dmessy does make good points and believe me ,I in no way profess to be on a parrallel of knowledge with guys like Dhadley,Djohns,Trent,Clanton,Rick,or Joe Reeves,just to mention a few.<br /> I visit here for the sheer fun of it and have gained a wealth of knowledge since reporting aboard.I also vow that I in no way will think that I am in some way superior to anyone else that visits or is a regular member of these forums and will most definately not get into an engineering topic knowledge debate with Forktail. (no pun intended)<br /><br />Now...If I could just fade into the background and go polish the Scrambled egg hat bill and celebrate..

ey Dmessy. Weren't you the one who asked that you title be changed to captain from admiral?<br />Or am I thinkin of someone else?<br />Anyhoo, I think YOU should be an admiral by now.<br />We can't really blame it on a "good 'ol boy" system. I think if it was left to any one person,regardless of who it was, to change those title thingies, someone,somewhere down the road will 'dis' them over a decission they made, or did not make.<br /><br />And surely (don't call me shirley ) if it were left up to one person, that one person isn't gonna lay-awake at night thinking about such things. But title changes are as easy as this thread, and contributions to the other members via this site.It kinda takes this "nomination" of sorts, to gat a "promotion".<br />Hey admin. Change mine to "Old Turkey-Buzzard.
