Hey guys i live in MA and im in the process of trying to register the trailer that came with my boat. Its an escort trailer and it is rated at 2700lbs. In MA there is no titles under 3000lbs so the trailer never apparently had a title. I was told that i needed an old registration to register it, but I cannot get one from the seller. What is your advice, can I get a title from someplace? Can a certificate of origin be easily obtained from someplace? Thanks

Check with DMV as in New York we would just register it as homemade.

You may or may not be able to register it as homemade, depending on the rules in your state. I recommend that you invest a few dollars in the services of an experienced, private title clerk. They have seen most of the problems that occur in registering vehicles many times, and usually know exactly how to overcome difficulties.

Hi,

I'm from MA and just registered my trailor.

What you need is:

Bill of Sale
Previous registration, hopefully last year/
A form from your insurance company

Thats it for under 2700 Lbs.

I'm south of Boston too, my trailer came from outta state, no title, no registration ...nothing.

It doesn't even have a mfgers plate left that we could read.

I went to my ins agent and he filled out a form, I didn't insure it, it cost nothing.

Took that form to the DMV in Brockton with a phony bill of sale and they registered it as home built, no hassle at all. In and out in 10 minutes.

Call my agent, Bill at 1- 781 828 4244 in Canton,
he'll tell you which form he gave me, I'm Gerard from savoy catering.
you shouldn't have any problem at all.
