Hey everyone i found out through here with testing that the solenoid is good through all that. I push the key in while i turn it, it will click but no gas. I pull the 2 little lines off again turn the red lever boom gas. I took it all apart and cleaned it still no gas through the key. My question is which way does the lever need to be i will post a picture. Thank you guys so much for all your help.

Re: primer solenoid help

Lever forward is manual position. Lever back (in line with the solenoid coil) is the normal operating position.

Re: primer solenoid help

The picture you attached shows the normal position where the primer is activated by the key.

Re: primer solenoid help

ok thanks dwco. since thats in the normal key side and no gas comes through with key in that position is it bad then? would i need to buy a new one or rebuild the insides in it. i think the solenoid itself is around 150 without all the insides. so i just want your advice as to what i need to do to fix it. thanks so much for your fast results

Re: primer solenoid help

How are you checking for gas flow? To test it you have to have pressure on the fuel line. Remove the hose to the carbs, pump the primer bulb on your fuel line and push the key in to the choke position at the same time. This takes long arms or a helper :) If you have fuel squirting out when you do this it is OK. If not something is wrong inside the primer solenoid assembly. Since you can hear a click when you push the key in the electrical part of the unit must be OK. I see there are listings for the individual parts rather than have to buy a whole new unit. All you have to do is figure out what piece is causing your problem.
