Primer bulb

In all the posts I've read, everyone says they must pump up their primer bulb to start the engine, but I have never had to pump mine up and the motor always starts really quick. I'm a fan of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but this 'soft' bulb makes me curious. Yeah, I know-curosity killed the cat.....but satisfaction brought it back. What gives with the bulb??

Re: Primer bulb

Driftwood...I don't have to pump mine either. However I believe it is a common problem especially with smaller engines with portable tanks, especially if you disconnect the fuel hose. Be curious what others have to say.

Re: Primer bulb

Pumping primer bulb until firm before starting just gives your fuel pump and carbs a sure fill before cranking over. Also if you'll do it before running engine until bulb is firm it will confirm that your float valves are seating in carb bowls.
