Plywood transom, again

Hope this works... attached are pics of my new (to me) 1995 14' aluminum Sears Gamefisher boat. I've taken off the old rotten pieces of plywood seen on the transom in the photos, and I'm replacing them with plywood of the same size and shape. The new plywood is exterior grade, with 4 coats of spar varnish. Two pieces of 3/4" sandwiched on the outside to provide clearance around the top rail, and one piece of 1/2" on the inside. The motor is a 15 hp Gamefisher. I haven't looked to see how much the transom flexes under high power. I take the motor off when trailering, but I'd like to leave it on in the future. I'm concerned, though, that without a Transom Saver, the motor might bounce around, putting too much stress on the transom.

The fuel tank just fits between the transom and the aft bench, so if I did add more plywood on the inside, it would be on the upper half only.

I probably will get a Transom Saver.

Do I need to add a larger piece of plywood, spanning the transom?
