What is the issue that you are trying to solve?

The electrical connections to a two wire R/R can't get any simpler.

Crowleymarine has parts diagram for your motor. It might help you to look up your charging system.

Merc went from a simple full wave rectifier charging system, to a single 40A VR and then to twin 20A VRs for their 135 - 150HPV6 motors. My '93 Merc 135HPV6 has the twin 20A VRs. Earlier models have the single 40A VR.

tha only thing with tha one above it doesn't show your regulator.. it mounts directly behind tha flywheel, top of block and has a red and a yellow wire.. they connect to tha rectifier......

figured that.. tha oem two wire is not readily available except in used on ebay if at all..... we ran 16 amp stuff on everything we had from 150 ta 280's without any kinda regulator without any problems.. we had a very good battery program though....

What does yhe grey wire go to? Mine only has 1 red not 2 and mine has 1 either grey or brown or tan color. The only wires that match up is 2 yellows and 1 red that leave the reg with 1 black I assume that bolts to motor and a grey wire and a red wire for nothing hooked to and on motorside 1 light clored wire.. that includes Not using 2 wires from old reg and not using old rect

both reds (all reds either come from or go to battery positive no mater they're origin).. make up to any motor red .. one yellow to one motor yellow, repeat with other two.. gray (there is no tan or brown) makes up on motor gray (tach signal wire).. black ground

that should work.. don't understand why it would show any yellow ta ground.. on all mercs tha only color goin' ta ground is gonna be black or black/yellow tracer (kill circuit)..........................

you do know that with that type reg. you don't need a rectifier right?.. take tha reg completely off and put tha rectifier only back on it and run it... won't hurt a thing but will see if your problem goes away?

JAN.. we NEVER ran a regulator (justa rectifier) with a 16 amp system and never had any kinda problem...................
