I was launching my 21ft boat at the Sandy Point State Park In Annapolis,Md.
There was a young couple trying to get their boat on the trailer. The young man was in the water holding the boat as the young girl tried to unsuccesfully back down the ramp. She was really trying hard to follow his shouted instructions. She would back up and the trailer would jacknife, first one way then another. Remember all the time her man was yelling instructions from the water then the dock.
It finnaly got the best of the guy and he started cursing at the top of his lungs:Hey you STUPID B@#$%%h can't you back down the GD!! ramp.
About that time you could see her reach up and put the truck in drive and pulled off leaving him setting at the dock.
We went fishing for about 5 hrs and when we got back to the dock he was still setting there.I don't know if she came back or someone else came and got him.
Serves him right.Jerry

She should have left the state to go on a week long vacation. He got off way too easy for treating her like that.

Yup, that trick never works. Yelling at the driver of the tow rig and calling her names is not a good plan.

Nice to hear that she taught him something that may be useful some other day.

I am pretty sure my wife would do the same thing if I pulled a classless stunt like that. Of course, sitting in the boat alone is likely to be more pleasant than the ride home after you say something like that.

She will probably show up in a few hours towing a U-Haul trailer, open the barn doors, back quickly down the ramp, nail the breaks spilling the contents all over him and yell "Hey , I got some practice time in...How did I do?????" (PS This has never happened to me):D:D:D

He should understand its hard when you first try backing up with boats/trailers its all backward steering. What a moron...You treat the next person like you expect towards you. But maybe hes parents never hugged him.

Could be, but I'm betting on him running up on a rock, then logging on here and asking for help. :D

Heck, sometimes I still have to pull forward and back down again...I certainly wouldn't yell at the wife if she had to do the same thing.

I just tell my wife to stand on the dock and make sure Im doing it right. It makes her feel like she is doing something and we dont have any accidents.

Re: Overheard at the boat ramp!!!!

Sometime you have to do it youself. If the girl is inexperience in backing the trailer then he should hvae shown her how to do it. If I was him, I would have got out of the boat and back the trailer down to the water myself and then get in the boat and load it up and have the girl drive the trailer out of the water slowly onto dry land. But stupid him shouted at the girl and he deserved it. Got his azz stranded :)

That's great it must have been to funny to see him still sitting there.

We all know he probably can't back it up either.

Some people are just stupid tools, what can you do?

Maybe she finally figured out she didn't need to put up with him and is now hanging out with someone who doesn't blame everyone else for his short comings.

Me I never seem to have someone that actually knows what their doing with me so I just launch it myself. Maybe ask someone to grab a line. But mostly just launch it, tie it off, and go park the truck.

If I would have done that, I'd better of had a sleeping bag with me, 'cause that would have been my new home !!!!!!!

P.S. My wife can back a trailer with the best of them !!!!! (She's probably better at it than me !!!!!!!!!!)

Re: Overheard at the boat ramp!!!!

my girl wanted to learn how so the way i showed her was walking along side of the truck helping her steer at the window on the outside of the truck. I of course tied the boat off and was able to get in. She learned in 3 times. She still is not the best at it but its hard to watch anyone else do it. Even if it was a man or woman i always dont like to watch anyone else back my stuff to the ramp. But before she was some what comfy backing she stood there rope holding.

Re: Overheard at the boat ramp!!!!

My wife is the same way. She wants to learn how to do everything. I don't blame her. We recently bought two PWC's and wanted to learn how to put them in. I generally get them started down the ramp, unhook everything, then let her finish. Works fine. She practiced the other day while I was riding my PWC. I tried to help, but she needed to learn, so I let her have at it. After a few tries, she got it.
