OutDrive doesn't come up or down

Hi everybody and thanks for reading this post.
I bought a Galaxie 88 - AQ131A motor. First the outdrive was going down, locking in place but I had to manually unlock it to bring it up. I was told that the Push Rod was broken so I ordered one but I didn't order the thrust sleeve. Anyway yesterday I finally put tis boat in the water and when I tried to bring the outboard drive up I only heard a click and it doesn't go up nor down. The thrust sleeve is on the way but now I think there is something else. Any ideas?

What drive is paired up with that AQ131A? Good idea to post the boat details in your signature line so its easier for folks to answer the question.

New problem!
I took my boat to the lake yesterday and when I hit reverse I heard a big "clank" sound, like if the propeller was hitting something, but it was coming from the engine, but if I pull the lever back a little bit farther the sound will go away, is just in an specific position of the lever. Any ideas about this and/or the outdrive not moving up/down.

Please. please, please......any help?
I don't know what to do. I haven't get any responses in a week.
Should I just sell it? Junk it? or be patient and wait for help?

I'm outta my depth on Volvo drives... if it was a mercruiser I could suggest a couple things.

Be patient, post more details and pics if possible, and some of the Aquos drive experts will be by.

Could be the drive kicked up. If the lockdown mechanism doesn't hold, or the drive wasn't all the way down so the reverse lock would hold. The drive would just lift up from the props action. Then when you go to neutral or forward, it bangs back down.
Does the mechanical lift motor work? Do you have a service manual with a wiring diagram of the lift mechanism?

Don, Two weeks ago the mechanical lift motor was working, the lockdown mechanism was broken, so I was able to put it down then manually unlock it and put it up, again all this by using the electrical switch. Now when I try to use the electrical switch all I can hear is a "Click".
I do not have any manual for this boat/motor/outdrive.

Update!
I replaced the Push Rod and the Thrust Sleeve on the lower unit but I need to regulate it because still not unlocking. The other problem was a fuse that is why was not raising or lowering. The "Clank" sound on reverse I was told it was because I didn't have the speed control on neutral before I engage the reverse.
I keep you posted on the updates.
