Last season I had a new skeg welded on. It appears that the heat was enough to put the unit out of spec and cannot get seals to hold pressure test.

Any suggestions for repair... Mechanic has tried new oring and epoxy to hold. Held pressure test, but when I picked up unit, leaked oil. He is retrying, but want to see if I have another alternative other than complete replacement as cost will prevent me from enjoying this boating season. :(

Any way to repair this and if not any suggestions for a cost effect way to replace just the housing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

While you may be able to find a used housing on ebay, it's still going to take the labor of a lower rebuild to install and reshim the gears in the lower, no way around it.

Any suggestions for repair
The only repair I can think of is to replace the case. Sorry if it's warped due to heat & leaking, it'll never be right again. Replace the case.

Can you J-B weld it together? You'll have to cut it to get it appart but if its junk anyway, so what. Might get some more use out of it till a new housing comes along.

Thank you all for your help. I will get a used housing and rebuild if need be. Glad that there are many sources for these.

Have a great season!
