I have a 1974 omc electric shift with a v-6. I put it in the water for my first time this weekend and it clunked softly into reverse, but was going really fast I believe the idle was to high. I shifted to nuetral and then into forward and had soft clunk it would not go over 2mph forward at any rpm. Idle and at high rpm no speed difference but prop was moving. I also put it back in reverse and same thing only moving slow. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong.

Spun Propeller hub. Has a limp-home mode so it will get you home, but any more stress than idle will spin......just a guess......

It has a pin that prop.

But i guess from your other post you know that.

I'm going to wave my wand and make it run right without you having to do anything to the drive or coupler.

When you do find out what it is post maybe i have something laying in my basement like a 1000 dollar shaft and ball gear to help you out.

Not sure why you are starting another thread about the same problem. Did you do the things from the other thread?

I agree...this is worth a try. Even though it has a pin, it also has a hub that could fail.
