If I have a live well with a thru hull fitting in the bottom, when I put the boat in the water the live well would fill up with water until it reached the water line on the outside of the boat. Then stop filling up. This is the conclusion that I have come up with the way my old live well worked…So am I right?

Ok if the above statement is correct. This is what I am trying to do.

I want to have 2 bait wells in my boat in addition to a live well. I will be pumping in the water for the live well. I want to use the idea above to get water into the bait well, however, this would not give me enough water in my bait well. I would need the water in the bait well to be above the water line of the boat.
So is everyone still with me?
So how do I get the water in the bait well above the waterline? (This is the question at hand).

Well here is my idea on the question. If I had a pipe connected to the thru hull fitting. That was as high as I needed the water to be in the bait well. It would fill to the top of the pipe. So am I right
Thanks for the help

no it will not fill, water equalizes. you will need to do some plumbing. you need a bottom drain and an overflow drain in the live well, you plug the bottom drain, you use a thru transon live well pump to pump water in, it will fill the live well to the overflow drain. you can either turn the pump on periodically and circulate water or you can install a circulating pump. when done you pull the bottom drain. if you leave the pump on it will most likely over flow into the boat.

ok that is what I am planing on doing with my live well in the C/C. However in the back seat/deak of the boat I wanted to put two small 2 or 3 gal baitwells
In the livewell in the C/C I plan on Having a pump fill it for sure.
I do not know of a plauseable way to split the the pump 3-ways to be able to fill all 3 containers sepereatly. Also in the same sence I do not want use 3 pumps just to get the water.
I will have an airator,a drain and a overflow on the bait wells and to get the water in.............Well, back to the drawing board
Thanks

put 3 pvc ball valves, where you can get to them, in the supply line and run a fill line to each well. open the valve fill, open another valve, and so on.
