omc tach

working on a 78 starcraft with a 78 merc 500 50 distributerless ignition. Try to hook the tach up and need to know which wire go where. The tach is the origanal OMCthqt came with the boat. I know the tach connects to the merc control. These are the wire colors coming out of the OMC tach.
Blue=?
purple=?
gray=?
black=? (ground?)
Any idea???

Blue= Backlight
Purple=To switched 12 volt ignition source
Gray=To rectifier yellow wire
Black= To any ground

Intalled new rectifier, wired the tach per the above color codes, and "wallaa" the tach is working fine. was going to go out to the dock for a link and sync today but the weather has turned bad....would be good weather if you are a duck though..D
