OMC shifter sticking

When I shift back into neutral from forward, the throttle lever hangs up just before disengaging. I have to give sharp tug to pop it into neutral. The same thing happens to al lesser degree shifting from reverse to neutral.<br /><br />Thanks for the help!<br /><br /> :confused:

It would be nice to know which OMC drive that you have. There are a few you know.Electric,hydro,mechanical stringer,cobra, SX ,.What,what ,what?

I guess that information would help. I have a 5.0 liter Cobra.

Were you ever able to figure this out? I have a 78 OMC stringer drive that has the exact same problem.

Sorry...bad shift cable. If so inclined pull the cables off the mechanism mounted on the engine and see if the control moves smoothly. If so then it is the drive to the cable. If it is still sticky then it is the cable from the control to engine. I hope it is inside cable, the one to the drive is expensive.

Start a new thread for this. You have a completely different drive.:)
