"Streaming water" does NOT mean no overheat. It just means there is water geting to the power head, not necessairily through it.

Post your model and serial numbers, if you can. There should be a tag on the transom bracket.b

Mikey,

A long continuous tone equals overheat.

If it went off with a cold engine (key on) it could be a short.

I think it may be a "commercial". That's why I asked for the mod./ser. numbers.

it is an evinrude 145 hp 4 cyl
model # E140trlcnb
serial# jo145149

after taking the controls apart it did not sound the alarm again and we took her for a short spin and no sound. I think it might have been a short.
so that is the over heating warning buzzer then.. that is what you are telling me?

thanks again
mikey

What did you mean " i think it is a commercial"
????????????????????????????????????????????????

Re: OMC conrols warning buzzer

Your motor is a 1982 140hp, a production motor, not a commercial engine.

Ok your right I could have sworn it said 145 on the cover.

So is that an over heating warning buzzer then because it ran fine then it rained and the warning buzzer went off.

Not sure what to do...
the motor is like brand new it had very low hours not sure how many but the engine compartment looked almost showroom condition...

I do not want to burn it up..
thanks
