As in a previous post ,, my four winns v8 Omc I/o cuts out between 3000 and 3500 RPMs.. getting on plane is no problem and at speeds under 3000 rpms noo problem.>?? why is this cut out or loss of power at 3200 RPMS? Thanks. Engine is firing on all 8 cyl. and revs up great in nuetral. Could this be in the shifter? adjusment>?

similar prob with my mercruiser 260 - total spark plug, coil, pointsx, condenser, rotor cap and wires replaced - then rebuilt carb -that fixed the problem. Two cans of seafoam in the tank did not hurt the issue either

YKnots, check your dist. advance, Pull the cap check the weights under the rotor move freely. Also, you could check the adv. w/a timming light, at around 2-3k( best to do it in the water) don't know the actual #but the timing mark should adv. off the scale.
