I cut a gasket for these fuel tanks and one is still leaking aroung the fuel gage. I'm thinking about getting an Attwood fuel tank from Wal-Mart and using it, but the fitting is different. Does anyone know if I could make this work? The Attwood has a smaller fitting (not OMC), and has a filler cap with a vent. Plus, it is a "see through" tank.

I did something similar to adapt a NON OMC tank for OMC (Rude) use. Removed the connector from one end of fuel line and clamped line to tank (removed fitting from tank).

Not quite as convenient as removeable gas line but it seems to work fine.

Good Luck
HAVE FUN!

Irao-
if this is for your 97 50hp jonnnie, then yes you can buy a pre-made omc fuel line kit with bulb that will attach to the new attwood tank and connect to your o/b. They also sell the specific quick disconnect fittings at West Marine and probably at walmart too, that will allow you to cut off old omc tank connector and replace with a universal connector for your atwood tank which would allow you to salvage your existing bulb and fuel hose.
I use the non OMC tanks on my 96 60 johnson and had no trouble finding connections. *** make sure you use SS clamps verses plated ones.

I would insure that the pickup tube is large enough for your engine. I have seen Atwood tanks with a 3/16 fuel pickup tube, which is not large enough for a 50 hp.
