on a 5.7l vortec, on the starboard side, right below cylinder #6, is a hole that is spraying oil. before i just plug it, what is this for? it is maybe 3/8 to 7/16 in size, looks like it is threaded but i cannot tell for sure. engine shop tells me there is nothing there, but i can see it spraying oil with my eyes.

when we test ran this engine for an hour or so, there were no leaks. now it is spraying oil everywhere, and i fear i ran it dry and toasted it. i am hearing something that sounds a lot like bad bearings.

Show us a pic of the area in question,if oil comes out, something must have been there.

Ayuh,.... It's an oil pressure port, usually there's an oil pressure sender in it,...

So what was your oil pressure whilst you were running?
