Ok, so I want to install a remote filter kit on my Mercruiser 4.3...my question is: why are there such huge discrepancies in the prices? Some are less than $50 (Summit Racing, for instance), while others are nudging $400! What gives?
What do y'all recommend? Thanks!

Look at the quality of the parts being used, other then that it might be a brand name or "marine" is in the title

Look at line sizes and fittings. Cheap kits have hose barbs and hose clamps. Higher end kits have proper fittings, a bracket and the bypass check needed

Remote filter kits require a different bypass check valve in the block (30 psi vs 11psi)

It's my understanding this is used with HP oil pump but not with stock
Since adding an adapter, fittings and about 6 feet of hoses adds restriction the stock bypass check could open and it pass any oil to the remote filter. I would recommend changing the check
